Hi!

I really love Nick Caves music and lyrics as well.... I'm from Denmark, but went on exchange to Australia (Wangaratta) last year.... At the time I went there I thought that Nick Cave was from Australia, and later when I asked someone if Nick Cave wasn't from Australia he replied that he was from Wangaratta and that he went to Wangaratta High School. I thought that was so funny - that I ended in the same little tiny rural town as he was from, in the same strict school with uniforms and very authoritarian teachers as he went to. But the thing that REALLY surprised me - as you write in your article - , was that nobody KNEW who he was, except the single person who told me about him, and my really nice English teacher, Mr. Dike, who at that time was Nick Caves music teacher in a tiny shitty little music centre with only cheap instruments....

I liked reading your article, and I really liked my stay in Australia - and in Wangaratta, because of the people I met.... I love the beautiful weather and nature, and peoples "laidback-ness"...

Actually, it was Warracknabeal, not Wangaratta, where Nick was born and raised til about age 12. They are about 400 kms apart from each other.

That may explain why nobody really knows him around Wang.

I'll be going to Warracknabeal in two days, for my first visit, and I'll do a little investigating for you all...

I'll let you know next week how it went.

Oops...I stuffed up...the Cave family moved from Warracknabeal to Wangaratta when he was 2. This could be why no-one in Warracknabeal seemed to know of him when I was there...pretty town though.

Hi, my name is Jasmine I live in England and Iam 7 years old. I have been listening to my mum's Nick Cave's CD and I think he is cool. I want to write to him and ask him lots of questions about his songs, especially his murder songs. I also want his autograph and I would like to see him in concert. I think he is the best. Can anyone out there please tell me how to get in touch with him so I can send him a letter?
