I once went to a random gig with some friends which turned out to be a painfully earnest folk act. Most of the audience appeared to be related to the performers, who were brother and sister. By the second song a friend raised his head from the table, where he had slumped in despair, and asked 'do you suppose they love jesus?'. The third song was all about how they loved jesus. I have no problem with people loving jesus, but for a folk act which had more sincerity than talent, it was the final blow. We left before we started booing and got mobbed by all the aunties and uncles in the crowd.

I only wished they could have been bothered to mob the people who found me incredibly dull.
